Tennessee
Program Description
The Tennessee vehicle inspection program is one of the most enterprising vehicle inspection programs in the state of Tennessee and in North America. Since 1994, ESP has provided vehicle emissions inspections for the state of Tennessee, continuously leading the way with innovative technology designed to increase both efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Today, ESP administers two-speed idle, opacity, on-board diagnostic (OBDII) and pressurized gas cap tests. ESP also inspects more than 800,000 vehicles annually at nine permanent and six mobile inspection stations in five counties statewide.
Innovative Technology
Tennessee utilizes BAR 97 4-gas analyzers, Controller Area Network compliant OBDII equipment, Society of Automotive Engineers conforming opacity meters and pressurized gas cap testers designed to meet EPA’s Evaporate Technical Guidance.
Community Relations
ESP is a proud member of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the American Lung Association.
Repair Industry Support
ESP, in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, provides outreach services to the local automotive repair industry.
