The Tennessee program inspects 800,000 vehicles each year.

Contract term:
Middle Tennessee: Began December 1994. Ends June 30, 2011.
Hamilton County: Began April 2005. Ends June 2011.

The Middle Tennessee vehicle inspection program began in December 1994 after the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation's Division of Air Pollution awarded a contract to ESP. At that time, testing began in four Middle Tennessee counties which surrounded Nashville, TN.  Because of ESP's record of success in Middle Tennessee, the company was awarded a contract to build and operate a vehicle inspection program in Hamilton County.  The contract to operate the Hamilton County program began in April 2005 and runs through June 2011.  ESP operates both programs seamlessly to ensure motorists are not inconvenienced when trying to renew their tags across the state.
